My Turn

My daughter and my granddaughter.

My turn to tell you how I feel. I've been going through a difficult time. I'm a Pediatric Nurse. I take care of a lot of oncology patients. One of my brave little patients lost his battle with cancer on Saturday. He would sing a song called This Little Light of Mine. I have to tell you that this 6year old was a light in this world and I'm sad we've lost him but blessed with the privilege of being one of his nurses. My heart breaks for his family and they will always be a part of my heart.
I guess blogs shouldn't be about sad. But maybe its more about living. If you have a child in your life thank God today for him or her. Give them an extra hug, try not to lose your patience over that spilled glass of milk or juice. If you have a grown child, thank God you were able to see them become adults.
Now, I promise to have some pictures of my wonderful spring on here later today.

  1. Your comment on the Daisy Cottage blog caught my eye. I thought I would say hello. We share the same name! I'm sorry for this loss. I am currently awaiting news on a dear friend who is in the final hours of her struggle with cancer. It is so hard isn't it? The little boy is singing "this little light of mine" to his creator and that's an awesome thought. Thinking of you!

  2. I once heard Dr. James Dobson tell about working in pediatrics in the hospital and telling about how many parent's can't bear to watch their child die, so there are many children that die alone. That has always stuck with me and gave me the desire to work with those children. I went to nursing school and graduated, passed my boards, but never worked as a nurse. I did ended up working with children, but in a totally different way. I am thankful for people like you who do such a hard job, and care about those in your care.

I will say a prayer for this family.

  4. Nurses are angels. You have what must be the hardest job, caring for people (and in your case, children, which has to be a million times harder). I am beyond thankful for the nurses that took care of me during my hospital stay.

Thank you for leaving such a nice comment for me.

    Wishing you a wonderful day!
