Gardening, cooking, crafting and being Nannie

It is beginning to look a lot like Christmas.

I started decorating the day after Thanksgiving. But also got sick with a cold on Thanksgiving. What timing.
Anyway when I got up this morning I decided cold or not I was going to accomplish something. So I cleared all the boxes that were left in the den added some ornaments to both trees and took some pictures.

(I have tried numerous times to upload pictures to this post and it just won't).

Picture posting success at last so adding pictures of trees and decorations.

This is a wreath I decorated with some burlap geo mesh.
New tree in the den. I finally got one of the pre-lit trees. It was so easy to put up.

The tree in the den has my angel ornaments, silver, gold and copper colors.

The tree in the den.

The "living room" tree. This tree has ornaments I've collected over the past 43 years. There is one on there that was one of the first ornaments my husband and I ever bought for a tree.

Some of my favorite ornaments are my Coca Cola.
I've even found a few Pepsi ornaments.

A day at the Pumpkin Farm

I love fall. The leaves are just beginning to turn.
Saturday we went to the Pumpkin Farm. It was a beautiful day to be outside.
We had pumpkin spice funnel cakes.
Went on a hay ride to the pumpkin patch.
And pet the little farm animals.

There is nothing like a nap on Nannie's couch when you aren't feeling good.
Her mommy and baby sister took naps, too.

It is beginning to feel like fall

I love it. No pretty colors to post for you yet. But I did pull out boxes of fall decorations and have them here and there. I have so many Halloween things but will wait til October to add those to the fall things. I found this cute sunflower at JoAnn's for 1/2 price the other day.

Every day things

What a terrible blogger I am. Most days I just check on several favorite blogs.

You would think with being retired I could find loads of time to do everything.

We have a garden. So some days I have things to do in it (like trying to keep all that Johnson grass from taking over everything). I have a lot of lilies in bloom.  I bought a new plant holder at Home Depot. Love it.

Last year I bought some huge geraniums  at a local nursery. When I started planting things in pots this spring I pulled out some dead plants and threw 2 in a plastic bucket. One day I was out watering my plants and noticed some green on one of them so put it in a planter and it is growing like crazy. Then the other day I was going to throw a bit of brown plant away and it had green leaves, so stuck it in a pot. I don't know why that impressed me so much, maybe that those plants were just determined they weren't giving up.

My granddaughter has her first job. She gets to help set up before a friend's art classes. Fun for her.
The youngest grandbaby is keeping her mommy busy. She is smiling and cooing.

I hemmed 2 skirts yesterday and I'm working on a quilt for Piper.

Just every day things.

She's here

Piper James Gibson She is so much like her mommy. She was born last night (thank you Piper for waiting until after your big sister's birthday). She weighed 8 lbs 4 oz. Happy parents, happy big sister and happy grandparents.

What does a bowl of soup have to do with retirement? Well it is just one of the things I've been doing trying new recipes. I also got a new sewing/embroidery/quilting machine. So I have a couple projects going. I'm making a banner that says Welcome Baby for my daughter's baby shower. I'll post a picture as soon as I complete it. I have several little baby things I'm working on. I loved my job but it was very hard on me physically. I miss my co-workers and the kids. But I love being at home. My granddaughter is spending the night. She loves getting to come over whenever she wants and doesn't have to hear me say I'm working this weekend.

Happy New Year

Happy New Year everyone That picture is now on the wall. It was painted for us by our granddaughter for a Christmas present. I love it. I am going to do a lot better about posting this year.
