Gardening, cooking, crafting and being Nannie

The trees are down and the decorations packed away.

I have to admit it makes me sad packing away all the decorations.
I have things that were gifts, things I've bought, things I've made, things my daughter and nieces made.
I even have a couple cross stitch things my mom made.
I also have my mother's first tree.
I love having something my grandmother held on to for many years.
Christmas gets here and I always feel like there are so many things I should have done.
I made one kind of cookie this year.
That is it.
I tried a new recipe for a cake which was good but was just so time consuming.
I decided this past Thanksgiving and Christmas I have to streamline my cooking.
I was exhausted.
Of course I was also sick off and on for weeks.

Anyway just a few random pictures cause I like them.

And it is so cold here.

In the teens this morning.

This is a slice of the Peppermint Cheesecake cake I made.
It was very good.
From the Southern Living website.

I accidentally left this up and think I will leave it until we get
a Southern Snow.

I love this picture of #1 granddaughter when she was around #2s age.

  1. HI Renee! Oh, that cake looks so delicious! Isn't that just the way it is? We think we get everything packed away from Christmas and turn around and see something we missed. I do this every year! Thanks for popping in to see me.

  3. Sounds like your Christmas was fun, but exhausting! I'm always ready to take down my decorations and get my house back in 'sort of' order.
Thanks for the nice comment on the afghan I made!
